Cincinnati got its first snowfall of the season yesterday -- and all the traffic holdups and headaches that come with it. According to the National Weather Service, this snowfall is a preview of what's to come: recent reports indicate that this season will bring more of that white stuff than last year.
Don't panic -- prepare! Here are 3 car insurance tips for the winter:
1. When possible, stay home!
There's a reason local schools close when it snows -- slick roads mean more accidents! Nowadays, many companies offer employees remote access. Check with your employer to see of that's a possibility for you.
2. Check your policy
We hate to sound like a broken record -- but seriously, check your car insurance policy! Consider adding comprehensive insurance to your policy. Comprehensive coverage is relatively inexpensive, going for less than $100 per year for a driver with a good record, and covers damages to your car caused by forces outside of your control (like snow/ice/hail).
3. Know your options
Life happens -- that's what insurance is for. A property policy will protect your home or business in the event of an accident. And a Personal Insurance Protection policy will cover you if you are injured in an accident caused by snow or ice. You have options, so talk to your agent about what you need.
